Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who works as a nurse
as well as Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover.
She is Englishas well as Welsh-, Irishand Scottish. Rachel started acting at
thirteen. She was already appearing in Shakespearean plays in summer theater
camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
After appearing in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998), she starred
in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama which follows the struggles and
triumphs of the Shakespearean theatre group. In 2003, she won a Gemini award.
Her performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) instantly became a
top-rated actress on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. The film was
followed by the role of a major character opposite Ryan Gosling in the
adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) which was a
surprise box-office hit and quickly became the main romantic drama for a new,
young generation of moviegoers. McAdams came into contact with Gosling during
filming. They dated through the middle of 2007. McAdams and Gosling were
together and began to get married. McAdams was seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and
State of Play (2008) as well as State of Play (2008). McAdams also appeared in
the film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's
global hit Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams played the role of the confident
producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's romantic
fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic drama in
The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams also starred alongside Ben Affleck
in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and also alongside Noomi Rapace in
Brian De Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's
"Supporting Actress of the Year" Award and the "Breakthrough
Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
