Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson both lawyers. They relocated to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and went to the Dragon School. Emma began to realize when she was six years old that she would like to be an actor. Over the course of several years, she was a student at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch which was where she learned dancing, singing, acting, and more. At the age of 10 Emma was already involved acting in Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999, casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was approached by casting agents by her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight continuous auditions director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they had been chosen to play the three lead characters, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. The film set records for opening day sales and weekend take-offs and was the highest-grossing film in 2001. The film's performances and those of its three young actors were highly praised by reviewers. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph was awed by her performance and called it "admirable". Emma was awarded five awards for her role in the film, among them the Young Artist Award, for Leading Young Actress In an Film. Film. Emma was a star after the success of the debut film of the series. She continued to play the role of Hermione Granger for over 10 years, appearing in all of the subsequent Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
