Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. At the age of three, she left California and old, her family relocated to the United States. Summer was a student at American and British schools, while her family was in Europe. Her return to Pasadena, California just shy of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was infatuated with the idea that she would become an actor since she was five she took her first acting course at age 14. Nine months later, she got an agent and manager, and then began her dream full-time. She is currently pursuing her college degree in her free time. She was among the stars who were young in Vanity Fair’s August 2008 cover feature, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Hottest Kids in Hollywood". At the age of 14, Bishil began her acting lessons. In just one year, she was hired by an agency and a manager. Bishil's first role was on the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in several other children's shows.Bishil's breakthrough performance came as the lead actress in Alan Ball's film, Towelhead in 2007, which was a re-telling of the novel with the same name. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most authentic in a film which, in spite of its noble intentions, comes off as phony and slightly embarrassing, as an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the most natural actresses in film ever. In an article in the 12th of September Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer, gives an impressive and sassy performance as Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was the main focus of the planned, yet unproduced sequel.
